@ underworld: Funny to hear those sheds are very common where you live! I had never seen one before and found this one browsing the net. I liked the agricultural look of it.
@ Willow Creek Traction: Thanks! I hadn't thought about that but you're right!

Another small update. I added the red boards to the side of the shed and weathered it a bit. I'm not really satisfied about the boards, but I force myself not to nag about it, they look okay from a distance. Evil or Very Mad

Underworld has it! Every big box hardware store has those out in the parking lot in North America. You buy them in a kit and knock them together in an afternoon or 2. There is even plastic molded versions and stamped steel ones all the same shape as your little shed. And for those of us who remember there was a hamburger chain called the Red Barn who`s restaurants had the same shape as your shed. Your shed is a mini version of the typical farm barn in this part of the world.
I like it alot.

I finished the shed by glueing 6x12 mm pieces of sandpaper on the roof (which doesn't need any paint really). All left now is some wheathering and small details like the hinges. I'm thinking about adding a chimney on the side to give the idea that someting is being distilled inside. Perhaps even some equipment inside.. But that has to wait untill later. Anyway, now this is done, I'll continue with the terrain on the layout. I'm thinking about raising the middle section to give the layout a less flat appearance (and Jon doesn't have to bend far when removing weed..) I'll put a low brick wall around it, which will be the next project.

Thanks for the kind words Very Happy
Very inspiring link Michael, thanks. Oh I love those strange looking contraptions! Don't think there's a lot of room for it on my layout though... But perhaps a smaller version.. hmm.. for the time being, let's just say the harvester is in the shed Wink

Jes, The little shed looks awesome. Good Job. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of your layout progress, as I have a huge love of pizza layouts.

Hmm.. I like that! I'll keep it in mind!

Meanwhile I've been playing with some cardboard to raise the section in the middel of the track circle, to create raised beds for the lavender (making it easier to remove it and swop with another crop, to change the look of the layout) and some kind of unloading platform in front of the shed. But decided I didn't like the look of it, so I'll keep things flat.
Forgot to take a picture so I can't share it with you, but it put the focus to much on the shape of the railway, I want it to be less prominent. I just want to have some mysterious tracks in the grass Smile

Next step will be figuring out a way to make the lavender bushes, should be interesting!

Hi there, thought it was time for an update. Progress has been slow lately, mostly due to a busy time at work and not a lot of spare energy. I did manage to do some things though Smile

Added a first piece of rolling stock to my G9 fleet:

As you can see, the load isn't lavender. I've been trying to make lavender bushes, but found them incredibly hard to make, and I still wasn't satisfied with the results...
Meanwhile I found some very nice etched ferns and well... one thing led to another and the layout is now called Vern's Ferns Smile The ones in the pot here are plastic baby ones from Busch, they come in a package together with some mushrooms. (have to find a place for them too!)

Also started covering the ground. Most products are from NOCH, like turf and different shades of 'wildgras-Foliage'. I also very much like the 'grass tufts' from NOCH.

Started building a small greenhouse today to go with the shed, more on that later Smile

This is looking loverly Jes!

That cute little fern looks perfect, brass etched foliage always looks the business. That ground cover is excellent, looks very realistic.

What's next? More ground cover?
